Someone's been busy....

When we got home from school yesterday and opened the front door the smell that assulted us made it obvious that someone might be in trouble.

Rocky gets kennelled during the day in Abigail's room and Daisy gets kennelled in Wyatt's. We followed the stench to Abigail's room and knew for sure Rocky had been bad.

Then we opened the door to Abigail's room and

found

this

That's his bed that he's standing in. When we left it was a nice foam bed in a cover. There were also two stuffed animals in there with him. He didn't leave anything untouched. He totally shredded the whole thing!!! And somewhere in there he also pooped.

But, he wasn't done there.

Oh, no.

He later went into the kitchen and knocked a glass off the cabinet. I have no idea how he managed to do that because I wasn't in there. I just heard the glass hit our concrete floor and break into about a BILLION pieces.

Of course I put him outside while I cleaned up his mess. (Abigail was still cleaning up the mess he'd left in her room.)

Then, when I finally let him come back into the house, he proceeded to pee on the floor. Are you kidding me?!

I'm thinking he may have lost the will to live.

I sure hope he's better today.

A giving heart?

My Dad is retiring(again) at the end of the month.

Last night Addison asked me when Grandpa would be retired.

I told her when it would be and she told me that she would like to send them $5.00 every now and then.

My heart just melted. I'm thinking to myself: How sweet is that? What a wonderful child! We're doing such a good job raising these children.

Then she says, 'I just want to make sure that they still have enough money to get me a big birthday present.'

And there you have it!!

Aaaaahhhhhh....that's my girl.

New Family Member

I know. I know.

I've lost my mind.

We have a new family member.

He's a little goofy looking...that tongue is often hanging off to the side like that.

His name is Rocky. We adopted him about a week ago. He's only about a year old and still acts very much the puppy but he's been a pretty good dog so far.

I decided to get another dog mostly because I thought Daisy needed someone to play with.

Daisy has really enjoyed having him to play with but she's also exhausted by about mid-day. He's never too tired to play some more.

5th Graders

It's official.

They're 5th graders.

Wyatt wouldn't do his hair this morning....no matter how many times I 'hinted' at it. You know those hints: 'Aren't you going to do something with your hair?' 'You're not wearing your hair like that are you?' etc. (I'm all about subtlety.)

They're attending the new elementary school this year. We were a little early getting there this morning and it's a good thing because it was a nightmare. They were totally unprepared for the number of parents that would be bringing their kids to school on the first day. Especially since they've added an extra grade for this campus. I hope it will be a little better this afternoon (fingers crossed.)

The kids were excited anyway. They were a little nervous about knowing where to go and all of that but adamantly refused when I offered to walk them in. What? They think they're too old to let their Mommy take them into school? When did that happen?

I did get kisses good-bye, but probably only because the tint on the car is so dark people can't see in.

Along with not needing me to help them in on the first day of school anymore they decided to really rub salt in the wounds this weekend and told me that they don't want to trick-or-treat this year. WHAT??! They've got to move a little more slowly on this growing up thing. I can't take it all at once...they're killing me. Can't someone make it stop?

Poor kitty.....

The kids are back home.

They all came home this time. Really, they had to because school starts on Monday.

I'm not sure Rainbow is so thrilled to have them home, though.

Addison put a collar and leash on her yesterday and took her into the back yard for a 'walk'.

Doesn't the cat look like she's enjoying her time outside? She couldn't get back into the house fast enough. I had to take the pictures from inside the house because if I opened the door she might have charged me.

Aaahhh, good times.

Making friends....

I couldn't get a good picture of these two this morning. If I had gone outside it would have ruined the moment. Ya know?

Anyway, Daisy is fascinated by the cattle that our neighbor has. They don't come around us very often, but she loves it when they do.

This is Daisy with one of the calves. (I use 'calf' loosely since it's almost as big as it's mother.)

Catching up

I've been a very bad blogger. Or maybe lazy is a better way to put it. But in my defense, the kids have been off to Houston for so much of the summer there hasn't been much to update on.

We went to eat at The Salt Lick for my birthday.

(He loves to look goofy in pictures...there's a long history of it)

The food was good.

It's a family style all you can eat BBQ place so we all left full, to say the least. They've changed their sauce a little and I like it much better now (just in case you were wondering.)

Then we went home and opened presents.

Addison wrapped the present from her in diapers from her baby doll.

She's creative, I'll give her that. :D

She's back

Kirsten finally decided that she was ready to come home over the weekend.** I had a poster all ready to go into production just in case.

I'm glad to have her back home. Even with the other three home I kept getting down four plates at dinner time and all of those little things that are just habit. My brood is just not complete with one of my chickies missing.

** I can't honestly say that she 'decided' to come home. The girls have an orthodontist appointment on Tuesday so I demanded she be home by then. (As much as I 'demand' anything, that is.)
