Out and about

We started the Christmas Break from school with kids taking turns being sick. So, by the time they were all feeling better and Christmas Day with all of its chaos had passed, they were all suffering from cabin fever and ready to get out of the house for a bit.

We went to the mall so that they could spend some of the Christmas money that they received. While we were at the mall we saw a new film star and Abigail was lucky enough to take her picture with him!

Okay, okay.....yes, it's actually just a big stuffed Olaf from Disney's Frozen.

A day at the mall wore us all out, but the next night we went out for pizza. We decided on a BIG pizza.

The size of that pizza is not some trick of photography. That sucker is a 42 inch pizza!!

Here's Dax taking a bite out of a slice.

We went to a place in San Antonio called Big Lou's Pizza. We had a lot of fun and it's good pizza to boot!

Now that the break is over, it's good to get back into our routine. Don't get me wrong, I love having the time with the kids at home and the days away from the office, but it gets hard to remember what day it is and what needs to be done.

I may have created monsters

On Saturday Dax & Wyatt went to the Longhorn's football game. The girls and I were going to my niece's birthday party Saturday evening so decided to make a 'girls' day of it and go shopping.

They just about KILLED me!!!

They used to hate shopping and now I can't get them to stop. I mean, I can certainly do my fair share of shopping but they just left me in the dirt.

How did that happen?

In order to even get a break, I had to bribe them with lunch at Red Robin.

Abigail & Kirsten both ordered these chocolate milkshakes.

They looked really good but I couldn't talk either one into sharing with me. What's up with that?

After lunch it was back to more shopping.

We were even late getting to Houston for the party because I couldn't get them rounded up and out of the store. If I got two of them together the third would disappear. It happened like that over and over again. (I think it was part of their game plan.)

Anyway, I just kept asking myself 'What have I done?'

On another delightful note, Addison has decided that she wants to make breakfast every morning. Kirsten is betting her $5.00 that she can't do it for two weeks. (She's great with the ideas, but not so much with the follow through.) Anyway, she's made it through two days so far.

Yesterday she made pancakes. (Reality check: she stirred the pancake batter and I did everything else.)

Today she made chocolate chip muffins.

Now Wyatt isn't speaking to me because I MADE him eat one of the muffins that she made. He wanted me to make something different for him so that he didn't have to eat something that his sister (said with a sneer) made. That was so not happening.

I'm sure he'll be talking to me again by the time I pick them up from school this afternoon.

Swimming Fun

I took the kids to my parents' house this weekend. They're staying with them this week and will be doing some back to school shopping and lots of other fun things. I had to take these pictures of the kids in the pool.

Now, could my Mom have bought goggles that looked any dorkier than this? rofl I laughed at them so hard - which of course puts me in the running for Mother of the Year.

I also met a friend of mine (and her family) for lunch at Landry's on the Boardwalk in Kemah. It was only me meeting her because nobody else would go with me. The kids wanted to be in the pool and Dax had to work (or so he claimed ;0) )It was great to get to see her again and spend time with her family. It was a nice time, but then I had to hit the road for the long drive back home.

I decided to take the even longer way home so that I could stop and shop in some of the small towns on my way home. I take full advantage of these times in order to shop at the kind of places I like to go into that the rest of my family hates. lol Well, by going this way I went about 2 hours out of my way and I'll be damned if not one of the shops I wanted to stop at was open. The only stops I made were at two gas stations. Once to get something to drink and visit the lady's room and once to actually get gas. I was pissed to say the least. I'm still trying to convince myself to look on the bright side and think of all the money I didn't spend. Whatever!! I wanted to shop. *pout* I guess I'll leave early when it's time to pick the kids up and see if that works out any better for me. rofl!
