Fall Happenings

In September, Dax and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary. My how the time does fly.
Even though it's an incredibly busy time at the office, we snuck away for the day and celebrated us. He was a big winner, and I was hoping for something really special for our anniversay.

And look what he got me!

We went the Texas Renaissance Festival. There's no telling what you'll see there, but we always have a good time.

Addison and Abigail decided on a theme for Halloween.

They're pretty funny. Their Aunt 'Manda said that it figures that Addison would be the one in charge. Ha! She's not wrong.........

Catching up

This year has been crazy busy, or at least that's how it feels.

After we got home from vacation we discovered that one of the water lines was leaking. Addison and I got busy finding and fixing the problem.

Even though it had been only a couple of months since all of the flooding, the ground was hard as a rock already. But, we think we got it fixed. So far so good, anyway.

Then, just like that, the summer was over and it was back to school time.

I can't believe they are already juniors in high school! I know I say it all the time, but this has all just gone by so fast!

Not long after, Addison got her braces off.

That just leaves Abigail still in braces. As slow as her teeth move, she might be 30 before they get to come off!

Somewhere along the way we enjoyed a small hometown rodeo.

I've really decided that I like these better than the big rodeos. I don't know why, it's not like I'm riding in it or anything.

And Dax and I also celebrates out 20th wedding anniversary.

Who would have ever guessed what those twenty years would bring? But it's been a wonderful time.

Miss me?

Sorry for the absence. I was sick and just didn't have the umph to post. Even thinking of what to write seemed like it took too much energy. Somewhere in there I actually slept for 12 hours!!! Thanks to Dax and the kids for even letting me do that. I love you all!

Dax and I celebrated 15 years of marriage on September 30th. That's a really bad time of the year (at the office) for us to be able to celebrate our anniversary so we put it off until the weekend of October 23rd.

My wonderful parents came and stayed with the kids while Dax and I slipped away to San Antonio for the weekend.

It was a wonderful weekend, too.

We even napped on Friday and Saturday afternoons!!

I know that all parents out there know what a luxury that really is.

Although, on Friday my mom called and woke me up to give me an update on what was going on at our house while we were gone.

Apparently, the dogs discovered a coral snake trying to get a drink from their water dish. When my parents tried to kill the snake, one of the dogs grabbed it and started running around the yard with it. So, not only did my parents have to kill a poisonous snake, they had to wrestle it away from the dog first. It was a really big coral snake too, 24 inches long! Yikes!!

It's a wonder my mom wasn't calling to tell me that they were done and it was time for us to get home!

After that, I guess things at home settled down into the usual, expected chaos because I didn't hear from them again.

In addition to naps, Dax and I also celebrated by having Haagen Daz ice cream for two different meals. Yum....

It was Founder's Day on Saturday, so we watched a bagpipe group. We also watched some Irish dancers and some Polish dancers.

Dax with his true love, Purple Sage (my Indian name......that's for you Dad.)

And I found this unusual.

I've never seen the Book of Mormon in a hotel room before. The Bible was in the night stand drawer on the other side of the bed.

All in all we had a great time and enjoyed the time to ourselves. We adore our kids, but it's nice to get away and just be husband and wife every now and then.

Unfortunately, I was already sick by the time I woke up on Sunday morning. It's still hanging on, but I hope that last nights rain storms will get rid of whatever decided to get it all started in the first place. *fingers crossed*

It's our Anniversary!!

Today marks 14 years of wedded bliss for us.

My, how time flies!!

It's been wonderful and I wouldn't change a thing. Love you babe!!!

On another note:

The kids all survived the weekend! (I can't begin to express the miracle that simple statement is really heralding!) It was almost as big a miracle that none of them killed each other.

BONUS: I did discover a deeper understanding of why some animals eat their young.

I think I made everyone except Wyatt cry AT LEAST once. Some far more than that. (sigh)

What happened to those cute little kids that are so fondly tucked away in my memory?

I know, I just forgot the 'testing me' part from the years past and only remember the happy, fun things.

Can someone tell me again, when do they get to that age where they don't want to be around their parents every waking moment?

13 YEARS

Happy Anniversary Babe! I can't believe we've already been married for 13 years. My how time flies when you're having fun. These have been the best years of my life and I wouldn't change a thing about them. I look forward to the joy and adventures yet to come. Thank you for saying yes to that dance. I've been madly in love with you from that first dance and 'I love the way you love me' (thanks John Michael Montgomery).

aahh...don't we look so young? What happened?
