Taking advantage

We've been taking advantage of summer where we can. Like I said before, we spent some time playing down at the river.
We cleaned the winter mess away and took advantage of our fire pit and roasted hot dogs......but I forgot to buy marshmallows.

The hotdogs were great! We also cooked some bananas, chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows (I had those on hand.) You cut the banana lengthwise down the middle (don't peel it) open it enough to top it with chocolate chips and marshmallows, and then wrap it all up in aluminum foil. Place it on the coals until everything gets melted and gooey.

I wasn't crazy about the warm banana, but the gooey chocolate and marshmallows was great!

Hope all the Dads out there had a great Father's Day. Dax had to be at a conference on Sunday, so we celebrated on Saturday instead. He got gifts and an ice cream cake. And, really, the cake is the most important part. Right?

Father's Day Fun

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day.

We had a good time here. I served Dax breakfast in bed (cinnamon apple crepes) because the kids were all still asleep.

Then he took Wyatt to his hockey game. They won!!! Woohoo!

Kirsten and Abigail tagged along. Addison and I stayed at the house so that she could get her present ready.

She made this:

It was her own creation. A cookie jar cake.

Actually, her vision was much more grand but I made her scale it back some. Okay, a lot. But her Daddy still appreciated it just the same.

Last year Dax's gift fromWyatt was in a birthday bag so he didn't want to make that mistake again.

He gave Dax a golf club cover that's like the gopher from Caddy Shack. Too funny!

Kirsten and Abigail both made their gifts for Dax.

From Kirsten he got this cute little dog made with golf balls.

And from Abigail he got a variety of things. One of which was a new smart phone.

Under each of those flaps (the apps) is something sweet to say to her Daddy.

Later we went out for ice cream. It was a good day and I hope the other fathers out there had equally good days.

Father's Day

We met my parents half way yesterday to get the kids back. It was good that I got to actually see my Dad on Father's Day too. The kids had a good time with the grandparents.

On the way home we stopped and played putt-putt golf. It's an indoor course and it's a black-light course. It was really neat and the kids had a lot of fun.

It's kinda' hard to get good pictures under those circumstances though.

Dax and Abigail helping the gorilla fight the snake.
Addison trying to get the snake away from the gorilla.

Addison riding a whale.

Abigail being attached by a shark.

After that we headed on home.

While dinner was cooking, the kids gave Dax presents they had gotten for him.

Golf balls from Wyatt.....
A tape measure from Addison....
A key chain from Kirsten.......
And a level from Abigail.........

(Did you notice how Addison managed to squeeze into the pictures with Kirsten and Abigail?)

Anyway, I don't know what I got him for Father's Day because he hasn't ordered it yet. I guess it'll be a surprise.

Hope everyone else had a good day, too.
