On Sunday Addison and a group of other pageant winners prepared a spaghetti dinner for the families that are staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Austin.
It's a really good thing for these girls to do and I like to see them fulfilling their requirement to give of themselves to others.
Addison enjoyed being there and giving (which is no surprise because she has a giving heart) and wants us to sign on to do it as just our family. We'll see if she can get her Dad in the kitchen.
Oh, and the dinner was greatly appreciated by the residents. That feels good too.

What's for dinner?
Not fish! That's for sure.
I can't believe that my dish (I think it might actually be yours Mom--sorry) did this last night while I was baking fish.
I went to check on it and found it like this.
Talk about scrambling to make something else.
Has that ever happened to anyone else?

Multiples & More Question of the Week
Multiples & More wants to know our favorite cookie recipe this week.
After giving it much thought, I realized that these are my favorite cookies mostly because of how easy they are to make.
I've come to realize that ease ranks near the top in my priorities these days.
Anyway, they taste good too.
All you need is:
any flavor box of cake mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
Mix them all together. Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 9-10 minutes. Your done!!
Super easy, right?
I've made all kinds of flavors....strawberry, lemon, orange, chocolate, banana. I've even used some chocolate and some banana (or strawberry) and done cookies that are 1/2 and 1/2. The ones we have right now are buttered pecan and the kids love them. They're easy and the flavor possibilities are almost endless.
Sweet!

The Chef
Well, the chef is back at it again.
On Saturday, Addison made a grilled cheese sandwich all by herself for the first time.
She offered to make one for the others but they didn't want a sandwich that 'she made'.
On Sunday she decided that she had done such a good job that she was going to make another. This time the others said she could make one for them too. (I guess they figured she had survived the night so it was safe.)
But 'making' the sandwich wasn't enough. She was also giving lessons.

Who knew you could be an expert after making only one sandwich?
And if that's not enough, I think I actually heard her telling the others why they're better when she makes them than they are when I do it! Guess that gets me off the hook from now on.
The thing I'm curious about now, though, is how can you make a grilled CHEESE sandwich and still leave so much cheese burnt to the inside of the pan for me to clean? Really, how?

Personal chef
I've waited a long time for this but I've finally gotten my own personal chef. The chef is a young girl named Addison and she even has a 'shoe chef' that accompanies her named Wyatt.
Here are photos of them preparing something fabulous.

Oh yeah, they made burgers.
They actually turned out really well and the kids had fun. Now if I could just get someone to clean the messes.

Another Great Weekend
Saturday morning Addison had her 4H foods competition and she won 1st place. Woohoo!! (I forgot to take a picture of her with her entry.) Now for the ugly truth....she wasn't competing against anyone. *giggle* But, she's still excited and she gets to go on to the district competition. Unfortunately, Dax & I will be in Vegas at a conference so she and Grandma are going to have to work that one out. :0)
After her competition we headed to Houston. The kids spent the night with Dax's parents and we went out with my parents and my brother and his wife. We first ate dinner at

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Then went to see Jeff Dunham's act
After the show Dax, my parents, and I went to the House of Pies for some of this

Can I just say Yumm!! I know it's making you hungry isn't it?
It made for a really long day but we had a good time. Headed home Sunday afternoon and it's back to the same old routine. :0)
What did you do this weekend? Hope you had an enjoyable time.

Why?
Why is it that every night when I start to cook dinner, one of our dogs does this?

It drives me crazy!! She lays right in front of the stove the whole time I'm cooking so that I have to step over her. I can't begin to count the number of times she's almost caused me to fall down. And with five other people in the house couldn't she find anyone else to be close to? And it's not like we give her people food. I guess she's just hoping.
Ahh, the trials of life. lol

Pizza Night
Last night I set out all the ingredients and let the kids make their own individual pizzas. It's amazing how much they love doing this. I used pita bread for the crust and let them go from there. It also allows me to get other things done while they're getting dinner ready. If you've never tried this before, you really should. It's great fun for the kids.
