Thank goodness that's over

It was a long and very stressful tax season this year. I'm still not sure we've recovered.....possibly because there is still so much work to be done.

Some of what has happened in our lives:

Two of our dogs got into a fight. It was awful. They both had lots of wounds but one of them has to be in the hospital for a few days. She had a wound that had to be made even bigger because of the tissue damage which left a gaping hole on her neck.  It took a long time to get to the point where it finally started to heal. But once it did, it healed very quickly. Unfortunately, the vet told us that we will have to keep those dogs separated from now on.

In late March, my Aunt and Uncle were killed in a car wreck. It's always a shock to lose someone so suddenly, but to lose them both still seems unreal. It was good to see everyone at the funeral. I just wish it had been for a better reason. We have to make a better effort to see each other and to make sure everyone knows how much we care. It seems that we all get too busy with 'life' and all too often things get put aside when they're too important to do so.

After all the stress, it was all the better to have all of our family with us for Easter. And to take a little time to do this.

It's sometimes hard to understand why life works the way it does, but maybe it's not for us to figure out. Overall, it's all good.

Easter Fun

We had a good time this Easter. Our family came enjoy each other's company and to eat too much food.

The Easter Bunny didn't hide eggs this year, but he did leave baskets for Dax and the kids.

But, the Easter Bunny did me one better. I got all the left over candy!!

And this year I was actually able to catch the Easter Bunny on camera
.

I have to be honest here. That's really not what I had ever pictured the Easter Bunny to look like!

Back to Easter

It has been so crazy busy around here that I just haven't had time to keep up.

Since I never got around to posting about Easter, I guess I'll start there.

The kids dyed eggs again this year. Although, this year they weren't boiled. Since there are 4 dozen eggs to be dyed, I baked them. And it worked out great.

Here are Abigail and Kirsten still working on their eggs.

Even the cat couldn't resist helping.

Here's the group ready to hunt for eggs.

After finding all the eggs in the house they headed outside to look for more.

The Easter Bunny got them pretty far away from the house this year! We still found some in the trees a day or two later.

There is also still one dyed egg that has remained unaccounted for. I'm not sure if one of the dogs found it first and ate it or if we need to just keep waiting for the smell to alert us to its location.

Dax decided to go with a preppy look for this year's Easter dinner.

Unfortunately we were unable to find him a yacht or a yacht club. Hope he has better luck next year. It sounds like fun.

Addison borrowed my camera for a bit to take some pictures.

I made a collage of the pictures she took.

I'm feeling pretty good right about now that she isn't interested in a photography career.

Weekend Update

Addison had her last soccer game of the season on Saturday morning.

And I finally remembered to take some pictures. :0)

They won 5-0 and that bumped them to 2nd place so they will be going to the play-offs.

They were pretty excited!!!

Sunday, we celebrated Easter at our house. We had lots of people (family and friends) and way too much food.

But it was a good time.

Every year Addison tries to catch the Easter Bunny. This year her traps were pretty elaborate and none of us were allowed to go outside after 9:30 on Saturday night.

The Easter Bunny still managed to get in and took all of her traps and placed them at her bedroom door.

It took me forever to find my camera because the Easter Bunny took it to take this picture and didn't put it back where he found it!

They got baskets full of goodies and too much candy.

 The hunt:

Addison has been asking for a 7-foot bunny for years now.

Well, this year the Easter Bunny finally came through and granted her request.

From that look, I'm guessing that maybe a bunny with 7 feet isn't what she meant.

Who knew?

We all had a lot of fun. Someone had maybe too much fun since Abigail is home sick today. We visited the clinic this morning and I'll be getting her antibiotics on the way home so she should be feeling better soon.

I hope that everyone had a good weekend and were blessed with the love and company of family and friends like we were.

Happy Easter....Part Deaux

The kids had a lot of fun looking for eggs.

Look good out there in their tennis shoes and pajamas don't they?

But. apparently, it started to rain while the Easter Bunny was hiding the eggs outside so there were eggs in the house as well.

Of course after the egg hunt, we all proceeded to eat way too much and enjoy time spent as a family. It was a really nice day.

Since I had given up sugar for Lent (Dax wants to know why the rest of the family has to suffer for my sacrifice. Maybe that's their sacrifice?), I did my best to eat only things that were heavily laden with sugar.

Maybe, just maybe, I should spend 40+ days eating ONLY things with lots of sugar as a reward for my succesful sacrifice.

Makes perfect sense to me.

And, don't even ask what's going on in this one. It's hard to get a normal picture of Addison. Although, I guess by now this is 'normal' for her.

Happy Easter....Part 1

So far we're having a great Easter weekend.

Addison had a soccer gtame today, and finally the weather was warm and sunny, and the wind wasn't blowing a hundred miles an hour. Unfortunately, her team lost. It's been a rough season for them, but this is their first time together as a team. Hopefully they'll get their issues all worked out.

After her game, we met the in-laws for bar-b-que.

Fortunately it's all fat free.....

Then we came home and colored Easter eggs.

(Why, yes, that is a Halloween table cloth they're sitting on.)

Look at those faces!! I think that something in the dye must be getting to them.

More on the Easter egg hunt tomorrow......

A Good Weekend

It was a hectic but nice weekend. It was beautiful all week and then cold again starting on Saturday morning. It was freezing sitting out at Addison's soccer game (they won 6-0)and the wind was blowing like crazy. I think this might be the third weekend in a row that it's happened that way. I guess I need to start carrying blankets in the car - that would ensure hot weather for sure. lol

By the time I got everything taken care of it wound up being about 9:00 Saturday night by the time we got around to getting this done. You can see that they're in their pajamas (although, there's a good chance they wore pajamas all day. *giggle*)

Then it was time to set up the trap to try to catch the Easter Bunny. Addison spends much time each year trying to figure out a better Bunny trap. Somehow the trap fails each year. Go figure! Anyway, there was a trail of baby carrots leading from the front door to this:

Even though they try to capture the Easter Bunny every year, he still hides lots of eggs (180 this year) and leaves baskets with lots of goodies.

We had a nice Easter. For (at least) the second year in a row it rained starting in the wee hours of Easter Sunday (around 2:00 a.m. - and I know this because I was STILL up) and it continued to rain (throw in a little hail too) until about 45 minutes after the kids finished hunting eggs which were all hidden in the house. Oh well, they had a good time.

But poor little Daisy was feeling a little left out. She saw plenty that she would like to have eaten but nobody would share, no matter how sneaky she tried to be.
