How did that happen?

In the mornings after the kids have eaten breakfast and gotten dressed, their next point of action is usually to see if they can drive me out of my mind.

It's true.

They try every morning.

And honestly, if I hadn't long ago perfected the art of ignoring them, they would probably be successful.

Daily!

But not this morning.

They ate breakfast, got dressed, came back out,

and,

it was quiet.

When I realized that it was quiet my mind immediately started going through the scenarios of what might be wrong.

They're all sick.

I've lost my hearing.

They've run away!

Then I turned, and saw this.....

Aaahhhh, book order catalogs had been passed out at school yesterday.

Another First

Well, we've had another 'first' in the Verleye house.

I had mentioned to Kirsten awhile ago that it was time to start doing some of those torturous things that us ladies do to ourselves to help us remain beautiful.

Of  course, she thought I had lost my mind.

But then some of her friends mentioned it and that meant for sure that it was time to take action.

So, I got to work before things went too far and she had a (bum, bum, bum - insert scary mystery music here)

UNIBROW!!!!

Aaaahhhhh! Run for your lives!!

Okay, really we just went from this:

To this:

She spent several days worrying about doing this because I didn't lie when she asked if it would hurt. I said 'Oh yeah, it's gonna' hurt!' but I did follow up by telling her that it would only hurt for a minute and that I knew she could handle it.

Update: She was disappointed at school that none of the friends that had given her a hard time about the 'before' even seemed to notice the 'after'.

I don't know about this kid....

Yesterday I was cleaining the house before the kids got home from spring break.

Yeah, my last hoo-rah.

(You're envious aren't you?)

Anyway, I was putting away some of the stuff on the counter in Wyatt's bathroom. When I openned the cabinet door I found this:

Really?

WHY?

I don't get it. It's not like we don't feed him. My gosh, these kids are eating us out of house and home.

And this isn't the first time either.

But, as I understand it, his father used to do the same kind of thing.

I guess it makes it all okay then, since I can blame it on Dax. :0)

Kuddles' Big Day

When I got home from the office today, Kuddles met me at the door.

That's not a good thing.....she's supposed to be in her crate.

When I got into the house, I found she had been mighty busy on her big day out.

She played with (and tore up) stuffed animals and ate beaver nuggets:

She ate a tootsie pop also, along with more stuffed animals:

Used the footstool by the kitchen cabinets to get down some crackers and fritos:

And she even had some 'nilla wafers:

And of course this all made her sick. Bleck!

I was afraid that I had put her in her crate and then not locked it. But, Dax and I went to the late show and when we got home she met us at the door again.

Oh, joy!!

I'm so happy that Addison decided to teach her how to get out.

Dax bent the cage by the lock so that now it's hard to get open (or closed for that matter.)

I must be getting mellow in my old age though, because she still lives here.

Miss 'em....

The kids are gone to my parents for spring break. I dropped them off yesterday.

Their dogs already miss them.

This is what I had to deal with while trying to cook dinner tonight.

Out of all the available room to play (both outside and inside the house) they only wanted to play at my feet at the stove.

WHY?!?

Trend Setters?

.....probably not.

A few months ago I turned the kids' laundry duties over to them.

They washed everything in sight in the beginning.

Now?

Not so much.

As a matter of fact, just last week Kirsten was telling me that she needed new blue jeans because all of hers were dirty.

Hmmmm.....how do you fix that? My suggestion was that possibly it was time to do their laundry. I don't think it was taken too well, though.

It seems that matching socks is over rated.

Since I don't do that anymore, I've been informed that it's now fashionable to just grab two socks and put them on.

I have my doubts that's true.

And, I've also been recently informed that folding clothes is over rated too. It seems you just wad them up and put them in the closet. Kirsten says it's easier to find them that way.

Weekend Update

I have bad news, and I have good news....

That bad news first....

I can't seem to get Kirsten's recorder concert uploaded. (Sorry)

And now the good news....

I can't seem to get the recorder concert uploaded.

Awww, come on.

You know you at least grinned.

We did lots of this over the weekend.

Saturday, Addison played in San Marcos. (They lost 4-0)

After her game we picked Dad up at the office. He had gotten tickets to take the kids to watch some of this.

They loved it!!!

Although I'm a little worried now.

My sweet little girls just wanted to see them fight.

They wanted blood, people!!

Addison had to get a shirt with the goalies name on the back. As soon as we got home she put it on a hanger and hung it on the wall by her bed. (If you know Addison at all, you know what a stretch that is for her, too!)

She says that she's now his biggest fan.

Sunday, she had another soccer game. It was on the south east side of San Antonio. They tied 2-2.

I feel like I spent most of the weekend in the car.

After her game we were all starving so we stopped at I-HOP to eat.

It must have been brand new because there was almost nobody there.

Yes, I'm serious!!!

I know that's hard to believe, so I took a picture as proof.

See, no line!

It was like a lunch time miracle.

But, all in all, it was a great weekend.

I just wish someone had come and cleaned the house while we were out running around. HA!

You might be a redneck......

....if your dogs tear up the garden hose.....

....and then your kids tie it in a tree to make a swing out of it.

Enough said!!

Weekend at Boerne's

(Boerne is pronounced like burney -- see, weekend at burney's -- I'm so funny. Right?)

Anyway, it wasn't the whole weekend, it was just today.

And we spent it at Boerne's soccer fields. (The kids wouldn't let me go shopping even though the town has some delightful antique stores that were calling my name.)

It was Addison's first game on the new select soccer team.

Her team played in a tournament last weekend, but Addison was sick and missed all three games. She doesn't feel too bad about it though because they got creamed.

They won today 2-1.

Addison decided that it's all because of her being there. lol

Sorry the shot's a little blurry.....it's from all the action!!

Addison played a good game. She's playing defense this year and she was in for the whole game.

At one point she got body slammed to the ground but she bounced back up like a trooper.

Of course, she was spitting out dead grass for the next 5 minutes, but she was a trooper none the less.

When she got knocked down some of the parents from the other team started laughing.  Luckily, one of the other mom's from our team got onto them about it and I didn't have to go all 'mama bear' on them. (Not that I would intimidate anybody, except maybe some of the smaller kids on the teams.)

After the game we stopped at a little cafe called The Green Frog to have dinner.

They weren't serving this, though.

(That's just creepy, right? It's the leg from a stuffed animal that the dogs tore up. When I saw it laying in the drive I thought it looked so gross........so naturally I had to take a picture.)

The bad part about stopping to eat was that none of  them ordered off of the kids menu and they all ate their dinners.

Gaah!! I'm not ready for them to order full price meals.

It was a nice day and the weather (and the drive) were beautiful.

Early release day

The kids got out of school early today.

It's quite cold here and we've gone through rain, sleet, and now this...

Maybe we could work for the post office!!

Anyway, the two on the ground are building a snow man. I don't know if it ever got any bigger than that little pile.

Here's a close up of the Abigail and Kirsten trying to catch snow flakes.

(They'll hate me for that when they're in high school. Mwaahahaha!)

The kids were so funny playing in the snow.

They would go outside and play for awhile.

Since the day started with raining the ground is soaked and muddy under the snow.

Of course they got soaking wet.

They would come in the house and take off their pants, socks, coats, and gloves and throw them in the dryer. As soon as they were dry and warm they would get dressed again and head back out.

They were so funny to watch.

When I picked them up from school Wyatt said that when he found out that they were getting out early he thought it couldn't get any better than that. But then he found out that they aren't starting school until 10:00 tomorrow morning and that was even better. He told me tonight that this had been a great day.

But really, I'm glad we don't have days like this very often. I have no desire to have to drive in the ice or snow.

And to think, on Sunday it was beautiful outside and we had all the windows open to take advantage of the beautiful day inside the house as well.
