Snow cones

While Dax was transferring the tapes this weekend, the kids spent much of their time watching. (They're very taken with themselves. :0) ) On one of the tapes Wyatt saw that he got a Sponge Bob snow cone maker for his birthday. He spent some time yesterday going through kitchen cabinets to find it but eventually he did. They spent a lot of time last night making (Wyatt) and eating (all of them) snow cones.

(Oh, and Kirsten is pretending to have a broken hand. She's bound it with ribbon for a cast.)

The girls are desperate to have a turn at making some and Wyatt is well aware of this. So last night when it was time to 'close up shop' he went to the sink and cleaned it up, and then took it to his bedroom with him. LOL I guess he's going to sleep with it until either he or the girls lose interest. As you can see, Addison is not happy with this at all.

Nothing really

That's what went on this weekend. We offered to take the kids to a movie but they didn't even want to do that. Go figure!!

Dax spent a good part of the weekend transfering videos from when they were babies so that he can burn dvd's. Just looking at them back then and how cute they were made me want more. I mean, just look at them!!!!

But then, they'd come in and start fighting or complaining and that notion would be gone in a flash!! *giggle*

It's Friday

I always love Friday mornings. Dax and I get up early and go to the cafe to have breakfast together, just the two of us. I guess we have a date morning instead of a date night. The office is closed on Fridays so we get to take our time and don't have to feel rushed. It's just such a nice start to the day and to the weekend. *sigh*

On another note, a friend of mine (on-line) wanted to see what my house looked like from the road. So the other morning when I was heading into the office (I woke up early and couldn't sleep so I just got up and headed into the office since I have so much to get done.) I took this picture for her. It was still pretty dark out so you can't see much. But, from the road you can't see our house. *giggle* All you can see is the gravel driveway up to the gate. It was also raining so I didn't get out of the car to take it.

I guess if this is the best I have to offer up then things haven't been too exciting at our house, which is just the way I like it. :0) We don't have any big plans for the weekend because I have to work on getting quarterly payroll reports completed.

Almost fainted

When I got home from the office last night my kids were cleaning!! There were two of them out in the horse pen cleaning, one in her room putting away clean clothes, and the other had swept the house for me!! Who's children are these?! Was I lost, at the wrong house, what was going on?!

(note: these are pictures of the same two with the ponies much earlier in the year. It's far too hot to be wearing jackets right now.)

As it turns out, they want money. lol But hey, if giving them a little money keeps me from having to do all of those things, then I'm all for it. (The hardest part is not going back and re-doing it all the 'right' way.)

On another note, hurricane Dolly should be hitting the Texas coast sometime today (I think). We're hoping for some much needed rain from it (as you can see in the photos, we have no grass. That's still the same). We'll see what the rest of the day brings.

Class Reunion

Well, the class reunion was a blast. We went to the mixer on Friday night and from there went to a pub called Baker Street.

We had a really good time. I had to get up early on Saturday to go get the kids from my Mom's house. That was tough!! Saturday night was still enjoyable but with the amount of 'spirits' from Friday night, it was much more mellow. But that didn't stop us from going back over to Baker Street on Saturday night too. lol I think Dax had a really good time and goodness knows the kids were wonderful through all of it. We couldn't have asked for any better.

When I checked emails after we got home there was one for my 25 year reunion next summer. WooHoo! Guess that gives me a year to recover. lol

Happy Birthday Dax!!

It's that time of year again....one of us is another year older today!!

okay...this picture is from last year but it's what I had available. lol

The kids are still with my parents so it's just him and I for his birthday. :0) We're heading to the mall this afternoon and then we'll find someplace nice for dinner. Don't really have anything else planned. We're both really looking forward to his reunion this weekend.

In other news, his step-father will hopefully get to come home today. They reset his arm and we're all hopefull that he won't have to have surgery. As for the pelvic fracture it's just going to have to heal on its own. He's looking at 8-12 weeks bed-rest for that. (not fun at all!)

Scary stuff...

My mother-in-law called this afternoon to let us know that Dax's step-dad had fallen off a ladder (they were replacing some wood on the house). He has broken his right arm (and dislocated his elbow) and broken his pelvis. They don't know if he'll have to have surgery on either break (or both) but he is in a lot of pain. We're praying for the best possible scenario for him and that he heals quickly.

On a brighter note, Dax and I went to the movies tonight at the Corral Theatre. It's a little outdoor theatre in the town we live in. It's really cool sitting under the stars on a nice night watching a movie. We saw Get Smart and thought it was pretty funny...and with the kids gone we didn't have to answer any questions during the movie. *giggle*

UPDATE: Dax's step-father has had to have three surgeries on his elbow!! They think they've finally gotten it right but he's still in pain with it. It's taken so long to get things right with elbow that his pelvis is almost healed. He should be able to at least start standing and walking a little soon. Unfortunately, he still has weeks/months to go for the elbow to be back to working. 9/4/08

Time Off

My parents left this morning with my kids. They'll be keeping them for the week and then my in-laws will be keeping them next week. I wish that Dax and I could just take the time off to enjoy each other's company while they're gone, but it's a busy month at the office so that's not gonna happen. :0(

Next weekend is Dax's 20 year high school reunion. He's really nervous about it but who knows why. I'm looking forward to it. I didn't get to go to his 10 year reunion with him because I was in the hospital trying to keep the kiddos from being born.

Today, I think I'm just gonna' hang out at the house and be lazy because that opportunity doesn't come around often.

Happy 4th of July!!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY AMERICA!!!

We went to the parade in our little town this morning. It was a lot of fun. That's the first time we've been and I thin we'll have to make it a tradition. Afterwards we went to a restaurant in town on the square for lunch. Then it was home to just hang out for awhile. After dinner we went to Dairy Queen and got blizzards for desert. Then it was home for fireworks. The kids set most of them off themselves this year. It was a nice day and we enjoyed spending it with our family and the community. Hope yours was nice as well!

It's getting better...

mostly because we've got the a/c working again. lol

Today was my first day back in the office. It took most of the day just getting through the mail and returning phone calls. Dax stayed home to wait for the a/c repairman. You've got to have your priorities after all. lol

One of the dogs dug up the dead bunny today. It was pretty tragic for Kirsten since she says that it's her bunny that died. It was pretty disgusting. This time when Dax buried it he and the kids put a bunch of big rocks over the sight. The dog is still trying to get to it but she can't get the rocks out of the way. It's just disgusting.

Kirsten decided after everyone got home with all of their little rodents that she wants one too. I guess tomorrow I'll stop after I leave the office and pick up one for her too. Wyatt named his hamster Cheeto (it's black *giggle*), Addison named her hamster Bob (that's her favorite name) and Abigail named her mouse Patches. The poor things spent most of today biting the kids everytime they picked them up, but after as much as they were handled yesterday, I can't say that I blame them. lol I need to try to get pictures of them.
